I’m a big fan of not putting crap on your skin. I think as a Naturopath and as a woman, chemicals are to be avoided, not brandished on our skin to have a certain look.

Fortunately there are companies that understand that the skin detoxes our body’s but it also absorbs the things we put in it. BE CAREFUL!!

So imagine when you know that on average a woman absorbs 5 pounds of make-up annually!! That’s kinda gross. That means you as a woman are absorbing things like:

Phthalates – They mimic human hormones. A study by the University of Maryland reported that exposure to phthalates could cause reproductive abnormalities and decreased production of testosterone in men. They make the make-up smell pretty.

Things like:

• DMDM hydantoin

• BHUT (butylated hydroxytoluene)

• bronopol

• diazolidinyl urea

• sodium hydrozymethylglycinate

• imidazolidinyl urea

• methenamine

• quarternium-15, Quaternium-18, Quaternium-26

ALL of these release harmful formaldehyde gas.

PEGS – Polyethylene glycols, or PEGs, are petroleum-based compounds that are used to thicken, soften, and gelatinize cosmetics, making them a common ingredient in cream-based products. The biggest issue with PEGs is that they are often contaminated with ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane.

BHA and BHT are used as preservatives that interfere with hormone production.

Also make sure you don’t find:
